Logically, there is a lot of attention for the spread of the new corona virus. Along with this virus, a lot of fear is also spread. It is both important not to be naive about the effects of this virus and not to let the fear and stress overcome you about the unknown virus. In this article, we will go deeper into the theme of CBD and coronavirus.

CBD and coronavirus – Can CBD provide support?
An American company claims to have developed a CBD extract that could possibly counteract certain symptoms of the corona virus. The company has previously developed a CBD product that tackles symptoms of COPD. There are similar symptoms with COPD and the coronavirus. That is why the company states that it may also work on symptoms of Coronavirus. Is that possible?

CBD can support overall health, leading people to believe that it also helps against coronavirus. However, no research has yet been done on this.

CBD and coronavirus – The immune system
A powerful and well-functioning immune system makes you less susceptible to viruses and other invaders. CBD can support the immune system. The human immune system is a complex network of organs, tissues and cells that works very precisely to keep the body healthy. We are constantly exposed to viruses, bacteria and infectious diseases. Fortunately, our immune system provides defense against these invaders.

Our immune system consists of three layers. The first layer consists of physical barriers, such as hair and skin, which ensure that not just anything can penetrate the body. If intruders penetrate, they are attacked by the second layer: the innate immune system. When this attack is survived, the third layer kicks in: the adaptive immune system. This tries to attack the invaders with specific substances.

CBD and Coronavirus – The Endo Cannabinoid System (ECS)
For a perfectly functioning immune function, a balance is needed in which constant communication between our organs, tissues and immune cells is important. The endocannabinoid system is one piece of the puzzle.

The ECS can be divided into three parts:

Two receptors (CB1 and CBD2)
Molecules called endocannabidoids
The proteins that transport the endocannabinoids and the enzymes that break them down in the body.
The ECS is a homeostasis regulator and is constantly working to maintain a state of biological equilibrium. It regulates a variety of physiological processes, including immune function and inflammatory responses. Both CB1 and CB2 receptors can be found on our immune cells.

CBD and Coronavirus – Anxiety
The coronavirus is spreading quickly and fear of the virus may spread even faster. It makes sense that anxiety and stress increase during these times. However, it is not good to let these feelings dominate you. When stress and anxiety are present at an increased level for a longer period of time, it can have negative consequences for your well-being.

CBD and Coronavirus – Action
In conclusion: CBD has not been shown to provide direct support against the coronavirus. Nevertheless, CBD can indeed affect your immune system. Get enough exercise, eat healthy and boost your immune system! In addition, it is welcome to better support increased stress and anxiety before these feelings start to dominate you.
